About
Founded by Sebastian Suppan in 2022, SUPPAN is a Vienna-based contemporary art gallery representing a selected roster of international emerging and established artists. The gallery is dedicated to discovering and developing artistic talent, supporting each artist’s creative exploration through exhibitions and a range of collaborative projects. Its program spans a broad spectrum of contemporary practices—including painting, sculpture, and installation—with a particular focus on works that challenge and redefine traditional disciplinary boundaries.
SUPPAN presents solo exhibitions, curated thematic group shows, institutional collaborations, and special projects. Anchored in curatorial rigor and critical engagement, the gallery fosters meaningful dialogue across artistic disciplines, cultures, and contexts. Viewing art fairs as an extension of its physical spaces, SUPPAN maintains a strong presence at major fairs in Vienna, New York, Brussels, and Copenhagen—using these platforms to present curated exhibitions to a wider international audience. The gallery managed to build trust and a strong network with curators, collectors, museums and artists, taking a curatorial and advisory function for corporate and private art collections.
Founder Sebastian Suppan originates from a longstanding family tradition in art dealing; his father, Martin Suppan, founded Galerie Martin Suppan in 1974—an esteemed Vienna-based gallery specializing in 19th- and 20th-century art, distinguished by its major retrospectives, the rediscovery of historically significant artists, and a comprehensive publishing program spanning five decades.
