Linda Berger - Immersion in the line
With her monumental, ten-meter-long drawing, Linda Berger creates with quill and ink an immersive world of lines and layers of colour. Her technique, which is characterized by meticulous work and meditative repetition, is extended here to a large format - a challenge that transforms the artist into an almost blind process of drawing. The flowing structures, a network of the finest strokes, oscillate between landscape and abstract cosmos. Working on the floor - often lying directly on the canvas - creates a dense, organic surface that draws the viewer into its depths. Depending on your perspective, you can enter the drawing or perceive it from a distance as a multi-layered structure. The monumental composition thrives on the dynamic between control and chance: each stroke is deliberately placed, but it is the overlapping of countless lines that creates the dense, vibrant overall picture. The balance of precision and intuition leads to a structure that is constantly changing - a universe of lines that expands into the space and invites viewers to lose themselves in it.
