Overview
Clemens Wolf, Michael Ornauer
at Art Brussels 2026

Together, Ornauer and Wolf construct an environment where color, texture, and gravity engage in dialogue—articulating the artists’ shared fascination with material transformation while also revealing their distinct divergences: Ornauer’s examination of the painterly surface and Wolf’s exploration of the spatial. Within the void of the booth, their works—Wolf’s hanging sculptures and a commanding floor sculpture in conversation with Ornauer’s abstract paintings—resonate like opposing forces held in fragile equilibrium, generating an experience that is visceral, contemplative, and insistently present.

Wolf’s works, from his Parachute series, capture a state between motion and stillness. By casting used parachutes in resin, he transforms instruments of descent into sculptural forms that render gravity visible. Ornauer’s paintings echo this tension, translating material flux and containment into layered fields of color and gesture.

This presentation unfolds as a compelling dialogue between sculpture and painting, exploring the possibilities of materiality and form, and the ways in which these practices intersect to challenge and expand traditional boundaries.
