Luis Zimmermann German, b. 1998

The German artist Luis Zimmermann moves in his work between memory, dream, and disappearance. His paintings arise from an archive of old family photographs and his own images, which he first reassembles digitally and then transfers onto textile. Layer by layer, fragments are cut apart, rearranged, and finally brought onto canvas. The fabric acts as a veil, concealing and revealing at once, so that figures, objects, and landscapes seem familiar yet remain elusive.

Zimmermann’s artistic process is close to collage: different materials and perspectives overlap, break, and reunite. The interplay between photography, painting, and textile creates illusionistic spaces that resist fixed interpretation. What emerges are images that echo the uncertainty of memory, where a color, a texture, or a f leeting sensation can outlast a concrete face or event.

His works have been shown internationally in both solo and group exhibitions.
